Sedgefield Primary School

Learning Together for Life

Year 3

Read below for our latest newsletter of Autumn '17:

Dear Parents,

Hope you had fun in the holiday. This is what we have in store for this term.

What will we be doing?

Over this term we will be studying light, then forces in science. Europe and the UK in geography, songs and games in French, buildings and the landscape in art, Pneumatics in DT, PE will be a bit of dance and swimming and in RE we will be discussing the significance of Christmas and looking at the Hindu faith. All this alongside maths and English.

Water bottles

I think having your own water bottle and being able to get a drink when you need one is very important. So please, please, please, make sure you child has a water bottle. I’ll make sure they take it home Friday and you make sure they bring it in Monday washed and filled up.

PE Kit

Your child will need a pair of SHORTS and T-SHIRT in school at all times. Swimming is Wednesday morning. Please see the Swimming letter for further details.

This is super important. You don’t have to be sitting on the settee! You can be in the car, preparing tea, having a bath. In fact, you can get your child to read to you anywhere! The reading scheme is designed to introduce not only new vocabulary but lots of grammar, punctuation and sentence structures. However that doesn’t mean you can’t read other stuff too. If you do, then pop it in the reading diary as well.

Following on from last term, homework will be given out on a Friday to be returned by a Tuesday morning unless otherwise stated. During the week, unfinished work may also be sent home for completion. Please continue to help by supporting homework and hearing your child read, learn spelling and times tables

I greatly value your support with your child’s education. Any concerns please pop in.

Many thanks, Mrs Dodd.
