Ofsted
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted regulate and inspect schools and colleges to seek improvement in the service. They carry out large number of inspections and regulatory visits in England and publish their finding on their website.
We were last inspected on 22nd November 2017, when our school was rated as a ‘Good’ school (and very close to being Outstanding). The Inspector, Michael Reeves, recognised our school's many strengths and high academic achievement. He also commented about how much he enjoyed spending time with our wonderful children. Some of the highlights from his letter are: “friendly, caring and nurturing environment where pupils thrive both personally and academically”; “relationships ….are superb across school”; “Parents are overwhelmingly positive about your school”; “…’Family Groups’, which engender in pupils qualities of care, thoughtfulness, respect and responsibility…”; “The behaviour of your pupils is exemplary in lessons and around school” and “Your pupils enjoy school and they see it as a welcoming, friendly place, where everyone helps one another.”

Attainment
2022 was the first year since 2019 that children were assessed using SATs tests. 2021-22 was a challenging year for the school as it experienced a significant and prolonged Covid outbreak in the Autumn Term, followed by smaller outbreaks in the Spring Term. This resulted in missed learning for many children who were unwell.

Department of Education Performance Tables
Many Parents are keen to see how we are performing in relation to other schools.
The Department of Education (DfE) Performance Tables provide a reliable and accessible source of comparative information on pupil attainment and progress, absence, workforce and finance. The Performance Tables include percentages of achievement at national expectations or higher in reading, writing and maths and the percentage of expected progress in each subject. You can find the School Performance Tables from the DfE by clicking the link below:
Sedgefield Primary Performance Tables
It is possible to select schools and compare the results directly, look at the performance of other Durham schools, or similar schools to ours nationally.
