Governors' Blog

Summer Term 2018

Here we are at the end of another busy and successful school year!
The
Governors want to thank the staff and pupils for all the hard work that has contributed to this.
The pupils' excellent and positive attitudes really shone through during the SATs and assessments. We are all proud of the progress made by all of our pupils across the school.
The school has continued to be regularly involved in sports activities and events, and the brilliant weather certainly helped to add to the enjoyment for all taking part! Even the  Sports Day didn't have to be rearranged and took part on a glorious sunny day!  The school cheered on the English football team during the World Cup, showing the great team spirit that Sedgefield Primary is famous for!
The Nursery has been a huge success this year, and we can hardly remember a time when it wasn't such a big part  of the school! We congratulate our first pupils in the nursery, and wish them well as they move on to Reception.
At the other end of the school, we also congratulate our Year 6 class, most who have been in the school for seven years! As they finish their primary education, and enjoy year end performances and events, we wish them much further success and happiness as they move on. We hope that they have many happy memories of their years at our school!
The
governors wish all the pupils, parents and staff a lovely Summer holiday!

Spring Term 2018
After a pretty hectic Autumn term with an Ofsted Inspection and and all the usual fun Christmas events, the Spring Term brought "business as usual" .
That is, until the "Beast from the East " hit the UK and unfortunately the school had to be closed (along with most schools in County Durham and many in the country).
This extreme weather and school closing is thankfully unusual, but the safety of all staff and pupils must be a prime consideration.
Thankfully Spring is now just around the corner! The term has been packed so far with the usual learning and lessons, many sports and music opportunities, visits and trips, and fun!
The children's behaviour continues to be exemplary which was confirmed by Ofsted, and we, as governors, are proud of the pupils' attitudes and care.
We have welcomed two new co-opted community governors this term; Dr Tamzin Lafford and Mr Andy Lister.
